Our History

The Chapel of the Field and Ramsey Farms

The Ramsey family has lived in the Lincolton-Crouse area for generations. Robert Roosevelt Ramsey built his house on the 100 acres of farmland he purchased in the 1940’s. Robert Ramsey was active in his community as one of the cornerstone foundational members of Highlands Freewill Baptist Church. When Robert Roosevelt Ramsey passed in 1999, he left his farmland and the house he had built to his children.

The land and his farm home were then renovated and converted in December of 2004, when Ron and Susan Ramsey opened the doors of The Chapel of the Field Ministries. Since then, Ron and Susan have expanded their vision for The Chapel of the Field into an expansive facility that includes multiple venue options, including a satellite location that was located in downtown Gastonia for 10 years.

In recent years, the Ramsey family has reimagined their vision for the future of Lincolnton’s premier family owned venue. Ron and Susan’s son, Kendall, is now working with the family ministry. Kendall was ordained in 2015, and has since stepped into a larger management role. Ramsey Farms, a name created under the Chapel of the Field Ministry was created in 2022 to better represent the history of the land that The Chapel of the Field and other venues call home.

For us, we believe that each guest that comes to see us should be treated like family. Our passion and our legacy is in serving our community in some of the most important moments there are.

We look forward to wecolming you as family at Chapel of the Field.
